Angels Rookie Killed in Late-Night Hit-and-Run

Angels rookie Nick Adenhart was killed by a hit-and-run driver last night, immediately following the his season debut, in which he threw six shutout innings against the Athletics.   

Adenhart had just thrown six shutout innings.

Nick Adenhart, always something of an underdog favorite here at Scoutingbook, was a rising star in the Angels' system whose breakthrough was delayed by hardship and injury. This season, we were very high on Adenhart, and expected him to break into the Angels' rotation to stay.

We won't give you any tacky puns on "Angels" here at Scouting Book. What we will say is that Nick Adenhart was a solid ballplayer and by all accounts a quality person. While he will be missed by teammates, fans and admirers everywhere, our deepest sympathies go out to his parents, Adenhart is survived by his parents, Jim and Janet, who today are suffering something no parent should ever need to endure. We wish them the best, which isn't nearly enough.

The Angels and A's have cancelled tonight's game. Nick rose as high as #8 on our prospect list, and we'll miss watching him grow into the stardom he seemed destined for.
