Batters Up!

As the Second Half Starts, New Top Prospects Emerge

Who's Number One? Well, today it's ex-Tiger and current Marlin Cameron Maybin, whose five tool mix is unparalleled in the prospect pool. But a rising wave of both pitching and hitting prospects is pushing up against him.

As 2008's All Star Break fades into the rear view mirror, it's time to look ahead to find the prospects who could have second half breakouts in the Bigs, as well as the ones who will be Top of the Charts for 2009.

We've culled every prospect from our list who's already exceeded the Rookie Qualifications for 2009 thanks to their at-bats (good bye, Geovany Soto) or their innings pitched (so long, Johnny Cueto), leaving us with a neat and tidy new list of Top Prospects for 2009.

As always, our rankings will change daily, so keep a close eye for updates. Players who go over the qualifying limits in the second half will be removed in the fall, but if you study our early lists, you'll be several steps ahead at knowing who'll be on top come next March.
