Wait Until This Year!
2012 Data Now Online, Lots of New Features On the Way
Winter? What winter? Justin Nicolino and the rest of the Blue Jays farm is ready for 2012, and we're right there with them.
Happy 2012, baseball fans. That next year you've been waiting for is finally here. In honor of the shiny new calendar, we've resynched our offline database with the website so you can enjoy, laugh at, or otherwise experience our updated prospect information with your morning coffee.
As always, rankings and data are very very volative in the spring, as trades, evaluation reports and workouts impact the data. This is not a published, final list: it will change every day until September. Our values are not the crusty ramblings of some old guy sitting at the beach. (Okay, actually, they are sort of that, but that's only one of our many inputs.)
Our overall or 'combined' ankings are calculated using a carefully-crafted formula and should represent the actual consensus evaluations across both real and fantasy baseball, spiced a little with our own experience and insight. We also show every other major prospect ranking system's ratings as they become available: we're not afraid of comparison in any way, and we actually believe anyone using a single source for such info is kind of foolish, anyway.
New readers: before you flip out over things that seem strange, crazy or just plain wrong, please be sure to read this old but accurate blog posting that explains how our system actually works. If you still think you smell a problem even after that, though, feel free to let us know.
We've got a lot more information hidden away in our system that we'll be slowly exposing over the next few months, too, so you can look forward to more details on all your favorite prospects, as well as some new ways to look at older players that you might not be expecting.
Shorter term, we'll be tuning on the rest of our classic baseball toolbox in the next couple of weeks, so those of you looking for our regular veteran info, closer data, position eligibles or other helpful data when planning your fantasy dynasty will be happy soon, too.
Happy New Year, everyone!
