Updated Top Outfield Prospects for 2008

A deep pool of big bats will bring the hurt

After a stellar debut under World Series lights, Jacoby Ellsbury is ready to enter 2008 as a legitimate rookie star.

Some years, pitching dominates the prospect lists. Other seasons, there seem to be shortstops bouncing around everywhere.

This year, though, might be the season of the outfield.

While our list changes almost every day (prospects are bumped up and down to adjust for the latest stats, buzz, news and injury) at the time of this writing three of our top four overall prospects for 2008 are outfielders, and all three are expected to have a profound effect on their MLB teams this season.

Those top three -- Jay Bruce, Colby Rasmus, and Cameron Maybin -- aren't just great offensive prospects or premium fielders. They're the sort of young player that franchises love to build around. If you're a fantasy player trying to build a keeper league for the future, you'll want to do the same: if possible, secure one of these guys and don't let them go.

For details on Bruce, Rasmus, Maybin and all the other hot OF prospects for 2008, have a look at our Top OF Prospects list, updated often.
