The Book on Matt Harrison

Prospect Info

TEXMatt Harrison
Born 8/16/1985
LHP, TEX

A year or two away, this tall, left-handed control pitcher has drawn comparisons to Tom Glavine. Then again, so does every left-handed pitcher who ever puts on a Richmond Braves jersey. Still, he's worth keeping an eye on.

His acquisition by Texas as part of the Mark Teixeira deal reduces Harrison's value somewhat, but he's still a quality arm worth keeping an eye on

Player Updates and Notes

Matt Harrison's curveball has looked "better than we have ever seen it" according to Braves coaches, but the lefthander will still begin the season in the minors. His polished selection of pitches, however, plus his mound presence and maturity, make it likely he'll be tried out in the Atlanta rotation late this season, which is much sooner than originally expected.
