A dominant minor league reliever in 2007, the Dodgers made the odd choice to convert Meloan to a mediocre starter for 2008, presumably because they didn't see the need for another Jonathan Broxton.
Now that he's in Cleveland, a team that's much weaker in the bullpen department, he'll almost certainly be returned to the role in which he's more effective. By 2009, he could be working from the Cleveland bullpen.
