Alfredo Aceves
Born 12/8/1982
RHP, NYY
A mature 'prospect' who's already pitched six full seasons for the Yucatan Leones and Sultanes de Monterrey in the Mexican League, Alfredo 'Big Foot' Aceves broke into the spotlight last year when he went 8-6 with a 2.62 ERA across three levels of play before being called up to the MLB Yankees in August. In 30 innings of big-league work toward the end of the year, he struck out 16 and walked 10, getting a bit of highlight reel attention in September, when he held the Angels to one run in his single spot start.
Aceves throws a heavy low 90's fastball and a craftsman's selection of cutters, changes and curves that he often throws in backward counts to confound hitters.
