The 'other' pitcher acquired from the Ubaldo Jimenez trade during 2011, righthander Alex White is a premium pitching prospect who until know is best known as a college alum of Red Sox fireballer Daniel Bard, and he should be the next UNC ace to earn a regular MLB gig. A mid-90's fastball is his workaday pitch, but his slider is a real plus offering, and even his change is well-developed for such a young pitcher. The Rockies have a pretty meager pitching farm these days,even after restocking, but new acquisitions Pomeranz and White are the cream of a thin crop.
