A defensive star in the making, outfielder George Springer brings great range, a good glove and a powerful arm to the park. He'd be patrolling spacious centerfield in Minute Maid Park already, if only his bat could catch up to the rest of his all-around game. After scuffling in 2012, Springer started lighting up scoreboards last season, stroking 37 homers and a very impressive .303/.411/.600 line a season evenly split between AA and AAA.
While the Astros may try to hold him back for cost-management reasons, Springer is 24 this spring, which means his time is almost certainly right now.

If you haven't been watching the Astros lately, you've been missing something special. Rookie George Springer, after a weak start, hit his ninth homer since being called up on April 17th, and his sixth in the last six games. cranking his slash line to an impressive .273/.358/.517.

George Springer's first strokes of MLB haven't been the best (.182/.262/.218 isn't quite what the Astros were hoping for) but he signed off on his first big league moment Friday night, singling home the winning run in the 11th inning to give the Houston Astros a 5-4 win over Seattle. He's still scuffling, but maybe he'll be a bit more inspired now.

George Springer made his MLB debut Wednesday, singling in his first at-bat and generally making himself more than comfortable in right field. Springer, whose callup seems to signal a little impatience on the part of the Astros, was slotted into the two-hole, showing either how much the team thinks of him, or how meager the rest of the lineup is. Or maybe a bit of each. Springer also struck out twice and walked once. He'll do that.
